Remove existing upholstery
The current fabric or covering is removed as needed to expose the furniture structure and prepare the piece for new material.
Custom upholstery is complete recovering: the existing covering is removed and new material is fitted over the furniture frame. This is a full recovering project, not a localized seam, panel or fabric repair.

Recovering is different from repairing upholstery. It is a larger project that changes the material covering the furniture, rather than repairing one seam or loose section.
The current fabric or covering is removed as needed to expose the furniture structure and prepare the piece for new material.
With the covering opened, the frame, springs, padding and other accessible parts can be assessed. Any additional repairs are discussed based on what the piece needs.
New upholstery material is cut and fitted to the furniture. Material availability, pattern, construction and the details of the piece affect the project scope.
If seat foam or padding is worn, ask about replacing or adding padding as part of the project, subject to the design and agreed scope.
Recovering can be a way to keep furniture whose size, style, comfort or frame you want to retain while changing its appearance. We can review the condition of the furniture and discuss whether recovering is a practical fit for your goals and budget.
Not every piece is a good recovering candidate. The frame, spring system, cushion construction, material requirements and overall labor all affect the project. We will discuss the furniture and scope before work is scheduled.
Examples include an opened seam, loose panel, pulled stitching, damaged area or loose tufting when the rest of the existing upholstery will stay.
Complete recovering removes the existing covering and applies new material to the piece. It is a separate project from a localized repair.
Send photos of the complete piece, front and back, close-ups of worn or damaged areas, your ZIP code, and any brand or model details. If you have selected a material, include its name or a photo.
